The site for St. Barnabas Church was selected in March, 1906 at a time when "unsettled acres of prairie grass" were evident with a "population of about fifty souls, mostly church people."
Services for the congregation were conducted in parishioners' homes until completion of the church on June 10, 1906. This building was later destroyed by fire.
A new church erected in memory of the Riley family was completed in the fall of 1912. Except for the Church Tower, this building was also destroyed by fire in 1957.
Subsequently, a new church building and our present church home was dedicated in March, 1958. Some furnishings, not destroyed by the fire, were incorporated into this new church.
A member of the Riley family ensured that the buildings were debt free by 1963.
St. Bamabas has enjoyed nearly 100 years of success and on June 10 2006, marked our 100th Anniversary, where a celebration was enjoyed by all in Riley Park.
