We will hold an Advent service on Tuesday, December 16^th at 2:00 PM for parishioners and friends who may find it challenging, due to mobility or health issues, to attend a morning service. A teatime will follow. RSVP by contacting the office (403) 283-3035 or email office@stbarnabas.ca.

Volunteers are required to assemble Christmas gifts for homebound parishioners on December 13 at 10:00 AM and/or to deliver them on December 14. If you can help, please speak to Janets Sims.

The Cathedral Church of the Redeemer invites you to a Festival of Lessons and Carols on December 21 at 7:00 PM. The Cathedral is at 604 1 Street SE.

Children of all ages are invited to join us for a fun and engaging time of learning, singing, and growing in faith. If you are interested in volunteering with Sunday School please talk to Abra after the service! Sunday school will be held on January 11th and 25th. 

The children are encouraged to participate in the Christmas pageant on December 14.

The 6^th Calgary St. Barnabas Venturers and the St. Barnabas Outreach committee are running a Christmas food drive for the Calgary Food Bank for our December project. There is a decorated box in the narthex for the community to drop off non-perishable items. The need is great and we are thankful for all donations received and for this partnership with our scouting community.

Join us in front of the church for this outdoor service to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. 

Dress accordingly as this service will be entirely outdoors.

In this year’s Alongside Hope Advent resource, the Rev. Dr. Ray Aldred (Cree, Swan River Band, Treaty 8), invites you to consider what it means to heal yourself, to heal others, and to heal God’s creation so we might live into right relationships. Through powerful and personal storytelling and theological reflection, he offers both challenge and hope for our Advent journey. And while “truth, healing, reconciliation, right relationships” can often seem like words and concepts too big to handle, Ray invites us to think about them in the everyday of our lives.

Throughout Advent, you can receive a daily message in your inbox with a scripture reading, a reflection from Dr. Aldred, a prayer and an Alongside Hope story. 

From the Alongside Hope World of Gifts brochure, we have chosen to support women in rural Colombia to buy beehives. There is a poster in the chapel and envelopes available for your donation.

As there is room for only one set of flowers on the altar, if someone has already signed up for the date you wish, we request that you choose another date. Cost of flower sponsorship is $60 and is included in the calculation of your tax receipt.
