The Day of Pentecost

The Day of Pentecost

May 24

May 24 is the Day of Pentecost, 50 days after Easter, when we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles of Jesus Christ. We celebrate with the colour red to symbolize the fire of the Holy Spirit.

The Most Rev. Greg Kerr-Wilson will join us for a service of confirmation on Sunday, June 7th.  Following the service, we will have a potluck lunch to celebrate St. Barnabas day; meat will be provided, so please bring a vegetarian option, salad, or dessert.

Alongside Hope

St. Luke’s Hospital in the West Bank is operated by the Episcopal (Anglican) Diocese of Jerusalem. Alongside Hope has been supporting this ministry for many years, and more especially during the current war.

St. Luke’s serves a population of about 455,000 people, including 57 marginalized villages and four nearby refugee camps. But unreliable electricity and costly fuel make health care delivery a challenge during the best of times, or a crisis during the worst of times.

In partnership with the Diocese of Jerusalem, Alongside Hope is funding the purchase and installation of 407 solar panels for St. Luke’s Hospital. “Light for St. Luke’s” will cost $352,000.

Walking Together in Prayer and Support

Walking Together in Prayer and Support

Father Thomas Gatluak is currently in the process of sponsoring his wife and children so that their family may be reunited in Canada after years of separation due to conflict and displacement.

Father Thomas has initiated a GoFundMe appeal to assist with one-time, upfront expenses only, including immigration application fees, required medical documentation, travel to Canada, and initial settlement needs.

Parishioners and friends are invited to hold the family in prayer, to share the appeal within their own networks, and, for those who feel able, to offer financial support.

Flower Calendar

Flower Calendar

To sponsor altar flowers, sign up on the flower calendar posted on the bulletin board in the narthex. As there is room for only one set of flowers on the altar, if someone has already signed up for the date you wish, we request that you choose another date. Cost of flower sponsorship is $60 and is included in the calculation of your tax receipt.

Please contact the office by Tuesday of the week before your sponsorship date to provide your dedication to be printed in the bulletin.
