Church Nave Floor Refinishing Project

Church Nave Floor Refinishing Project

Over the past couple of weeks, we engaged a specialty contractor to strip the heavily degraded, historical wax coating from the fired-clay tiled flooring in the church nave. To allow unimpeded access to the entire floor, we also hired a team to carefully remove, store, and replace all of the pews.

The decades-old coating proved much harder to remove than anticipated. After testing several alternative methods, the contractor successfully removed the vast majority of the wax. While the restoration is not yet fully complete, we decided to reinstall the pews for the time being. We will evaluate the remaining sections soon to determine what additional steps are needed to achieve our final vision.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding while this work was underway—especially to those who worshipped elsewhere on the Sunday the church was unavailable. Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who helped prepare the pews for removal, assisted with reinstallation, and worked tirelessly to clean and restore order to our beautiful church.

Message from the Synod Office

Living in Hope

A message from the Synod Office: In preparation for our Diocesan Synod, taking place October 23 and 24, the Synod Steering Committee has chosen a theme of “Living in Hope.” We wish to show a video presentation on this theme during our time together over the two days. We need your help.

We would love to have your submissions of photos or videos on how your Parish is Living in Hope. How does your Parish offer the Hope of Christ in its ministry, its worship, its mission? Please consider this theme, discuss it with your parishioners, and send in your submissions to the Diocese office by September 30 to ctubman@calgary.anglican.ca

Walking Together in Prayer and Support

Walking Together in Prayer and Support

Father Thomas Gatluak is currently in the process of sponsoring his wife and children so that their family may be reunited in Canada after years of separation due to conflict and displacement.

Father Thomas has initiated a GoFundMe appeal to assist with one-time, upfront expenses only, including immigration application fees, required medical documentation, travel to Canada, and initial settlement needs.

Parishioners and friends are invited to hold the family in prayer, to share the appeal within their own networks, and, for those who feel able, to offer financial support.

Flower Calendar

Flower Calendar

To sponsor altar flowers, sign up on the flower calendar posted on the bulletin board in the narthex. As there is room for only one set of flowers on the altar, if someone has already signed up for the date you wish, we request that you choose another date. Cost of flower sponsorship is $60 and is included in the calculation of your tax receipt.

Please contact the office by Tuesday of the week before your sponsorship date to provide your dedication to be printed in the bulletin.
